To see if your camera requires a firmware update, turn the camera on to custom start. Use UP/DOWN to find System Options, and left/Right to find Upgrade Firmware. You’ll notice a text string there (Example: 6M888i-160330). The last part of this text is the date code of the firmware in the format of Year (YY)/Month(MM)/Day(DD). Check that date code against the date code of the latest firmware version provided HERE to determine if you need to upgrade or not.
If you do not have the most recent firmware installed, proceed with instructions below.
Insert SD card into computer (using available slots or card reader adapter)
Download the most recent firmware HERE. A “.BIN” file will be downloaded.
Copy or Drag the .BIN file directly to your SD card. Before removing the SD card from the computer, ensure it is safely disconnected from the computer.
Set the switch to “Custom Start” and use the up/down selectors to choose “System Options”
Use left/right selectors to choose “Upgrade Firmware”
Use the up/down selectors to choose “Yes” and Press the “Ok” button
Status will read “Upgrading”
If the system reboots, the firmware upgrade is successful.
If the update failed, a “Fail” notification will appear. Repeat the update process from the beginning.
